What is it?
Self-confidence is your belief in your ability to handle life’s challenges, while self-esteem reflects your overall sense of self-worth. When these are low, it can lead to constant self-doubt, fear of failure, and difficulty recognizing your value. These patterns often develop from negative experiences, criticism, or unmet emotional needs—and can silently affect every aspect of life.
Complications if left unaddressed:
Medical Health:
Neglect of self-care habits leading to poor nutrition and physical health
Weakened immune status
Poor posture leading to orthopaedic and muscle problems
Headaches and muscle tension/ soreness
Mental Health:
Anxiety, especially social anxiety
Depression, hopelessness, or feelings of worthlessness
Perfectionism or fear of judgment
High sensitivity to criticism
Internalized negative self-talk
Sleep disturbances
High risk/ increase in substance use
Personal Impact:
Avoidance of opportunities or challenges
Difficulty setting boundaries or saying “no”
Shame over past mistakes or current limitations
Constant comparison may lead to excessive physical activity, overspending on clothing, cosmetics, or luxury items, and lead to an unhealthy preoccupation with appearance, often resulting in frequent visits to dermatologists, salons, or aesthetic clinics
Family and Relationships:
Fear of rejection or abandonment
Becoming overly dependent or people-pleasing
Struggles with intimacy or trust
Withdrawing emotionally or socially
Social and Work Life:
Hesitation to speak up or share ideas
Difficulty asserting oneself or taking initiative
Stalled career progress due to lack of self-belief
Being overlooked or undervalued in social groups
How counseling or therapy helps:
Therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to rebuild your relationship with yourself. Sessions will help you:
Explore the roots of low self-worth and challenge negative beliefs
Learn to set healthy boundaries and accept your imperfections
Build self-awareness, self-acceptance, and inner confidence
Develop assertiveness and decision-making skills
Gain tools to cope with criticism, rejection, or fear of failure
Reconnect with your strengths and values
You are not less. You have been told you are less.
